Ilha do Mel (Honey Island). Located in the state of ParanĂ¡, the island offers a remote getaway where most people travel by bike or on foot. Local authorities try to limit the number of tourists who visit, so plan ahead.

Ouro Preto. In this friendly mining town, tourists find locals who enjoy visiting with guests. The town also features a selection of religious architecture filled with artwork. The drive from Sao Paulo to Ouro Preto takes just a few hours.

Farol de Santa Marta. This village in Santa Catarina features some of the best beaches and waves in the area, making it ideal for surfing enthusiasts. The village also provides a backdrop of peace and simplicity that many people look for in a vacation spot.
